This Kiwi icon was built in the roaring 1920s and served as a hospital for recovering airmen after World War 2, everyone in New Zealand knows ‘The Chateau’.  The grandeur of the interior is only surpassed by the surroundings, you’re in the heart of Tongariro National Park and Mt Ruapehu, the North Island’s highest peak, is right there.

What we love about the Chateau Tongariro - Feeling like you’re steeping back in time, without sacrificing any comfort or amenities.  My mum always talked about going got the Chateau when she was a kid!
