From my numerous pre-trip phone calls to kind and patient Tanya, I had a sense that Moatrek was a special company. Matt is everything one would want in a tour guide...So knowledgeable, interesting, great sense of humor, smart, entertaining AND a great and safe driver! And New Zealand is beyond beautiful! This was a trip of a lifetime! We were also fortunate to have only 13 people in our group and we meshed well with each other!

MoaTrek is the way to go if visiting New Zealand! Fabulous itinerary, guides, accommodations and friendly people to enjoy with a small group of travelers. I loved every minute of the trip! Em (Marilyn) was a wonderful guide. It was so fun to hear her stories about growing up in New Zealand and she was very knowledgable about all the places we visited. She is very passionate about her country and that really shined through.

Small tours are the way to go especially when you have Matt for a driver, making history Come Alive! Of course you need to take his great sense of humor with a couple of grains of salt... Wish we could have done the whole 28 days, but had to be content with 14 fully packed days of sight seeing and immersion into Kiwis (fruit, bird & 2 legged kinds). Take an extra day to go see Hobbiton - awesome place. My main complaint - my suitcase was underweight! I did not do a good job of supporting the NZ economy! Spectacular scenery, friendly people, great weather, really good beer & flat white coffee. What's not to love? Many thanks!

Kiwi 14 Day Tour

Our tour of New Zealand with Moa Trek was the trip of a lifetime. We saw so much awesome beauty and learned so much about the country from our terrific guide, Matt. He was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. He has a wonderful sense of humor. There were only 12 of us on the tour which was great. The accommodations were very nice. The tour was very all encompassing allowing us to see all the high spots we could in 14 days. Of the optional activities, I really enjoyed the canopy tour in Rotorua, the Tasman Glacier Explorer Tour and the Jet Boat on the Dart River. Touring Milford Sound at the end of the tour was great timing because it is overwhelmingly beautiful. Getting to see it both from the boat and from the small plane was a true highlight of the trip. I would highly recommend Moa Trek to anyone looking for a small group tour group experience. It was a fabulous trip!

Kiwi 14 Day Tour

I had never taken a tour, before. I had always planned the trip, and drove the vehicle. I decided to utilize a tour group for this vacation. I lucked out, so much! Not only was Moa Trek an incredible easy group to work with, but they had an itinerary that I never would have been able to plan, myself. I loved every second of this tour. The group I was with, was just fantastic. I made some friends that will last for life. I was able to do everything, I had hoped for, and some things that I didn't even know existed. MoaTrek was just the best. You were treated exceptionally well. Our Guide, Marilyn was the absolute best. She was so knowledgeable about the history of New Zealand, it was amazing. And she did everything in her power to make this vacation, one to remember. I have told so many people about this trip, and how they need to visit New Zealand with Moatrek as their guide. Best trip I've ever been on!

Having toured New Zealand over 40 times I highly recommend Moatrek as their tour planning is excellent. They offer great landscape drives, the best of scenic highlights, very comfortable, well located accommodations with friendly pro active staff. Their smaller 18 person capacity coaches allow easy-quick off and on thereby not wasting much time and make it possible for snapping great photos or viewing many iconic locations.
By leaving the driving to experienced Moatrek mature driver-guides you do away with the self driving stress and finding your own way to various sights and activities. From the start with making initial reservations, on road traveling with special features included you will see much, have a restful holiday and wishing to come back to New Zealand and again travel with Moatrek.

I just recently finished a MoaTrek tour with Matt Lysaght as our guide. I just wanted to let it be known that Matt did an absolutely outstanding job on our tour, his knowledge of basically everything was unbelievable. This was the best vacation I have ever been on and would recommend MoaTrek to anyone considering a New Zealand vacation.

Kiwi 14 Day Tour

We wanted to let you know we totally enjoyed our Kiwi tour for the last two weeks.  We got home yesterday evening around 7:30 pm after 25 hours on planes and in airports.  It will take a few days for our bodies to re-acclimate to the time difference. The trip was amazing and one of the special features was our guide, Matt Lysaght.  Matt's knowledge of Kiwi geography and history added immeasurably to the experience and made the trip very memorable.
Thanks to MoaTrek for this wonderful adventure and thanks to Matt for being a super-guide.
