This tour met all our expectations and more! We saw so much of your beautiful country - places we would have never had been to and people we would have never met on our own - and all shared with a lovely group of fellow travellers. Matt, our guide was exceptional, his knowledge of your country's history was amazing. Along with his story telling skills, humour and organisational skills he 'shepherded' us thorough the extensive itinerary with ease. Sadly, owing to the severe weather conditions, for a couple of days our itinerary was somewhat curtailed and meant more time spent on the coach avoiding road blocks and rock falls but still Matt managed to find alternative activities for our merry group of travellers.

Ran out of superlatives to justify this amazing MoaTrek tour - fantastic memories of wonderful places we saw, facts we learned, activities we did and people we met and travelled with - what more can you ask from a holiday.

If you want to see the best of New Zealand in 3 weeks this is the way to do it. As well as seeing the scenery and doing so much we met and had hospitality from New Zealanders - memories that I shall treasure.

Matt was absolutely fantastic. I feel we were lucky to have him. He looked after us, moulded us into a bonded group and was incredibly knowledgeable about so many aspects of the country. He was also very humorous, flexible, unflappable and made the best of things when they didn't go so well. A very safe driver. He kept to the schedule without ever hurrying us unduly. I think we all loved him.

The destinations were varied and often breathtakingly beautiful. We particularly found it meaningful to meet warm and well informed hosts at numerous stops.

The wonderful lunches at the winery, at Di and Ian’s home, and on the lake cruise with Karen and David were all memorable.

We found that MoaTrek made a real effort to select accommodations which were not only comfortable but also located in scenic spots with good amenities and views.

Our two guides Brent and Andrew were very knowledgeable and made the sometimes long bus rides entertaining. Brent was only with us for five days and we were sorry to see him go but Andrew took over and made a flawless transition. You spend a long time with your guide so to have ones who are full of information and fun to be with makes the trip ..

The included lunch stops, one on a farm one in a vineyard and one at Lake Tarawera were great. Hokianga Harbour was a lovely spot to stay and body boarding down the dunes was great fun with a little healthy completion lol. Kerikeri where the treaty of Waitangi was first signed very worth seeing. Hole in the rock cruise great and we got to go through the rock as weather permitted. Lake Rotoiti on the Yacht was very relaxing and we were looked after by staff with sunscreen, hats and bubbly on our way back. Wal-O-Tapu Thermal Reserve was amazing. Abel Tasman National Park and seeing the Weka bird up close another bit of New Zealand to remember. Franz Josef Glacier breathtaking. Stopped for lunch in Hokitika and walked to beach and had a lovely surprise. There was a beach art festival made from driftwood. Some really amazing pieces of art. Favourite cites Wellington, Queenstown and Wellington and Nelson.. I know there is much more but I have put down the highlights I can remember.

A small-group tour, with a knowledgeable, experienced and personable guide is, to my mind, an excellent way in which to explore a country in a limited timeframe; if the group is not restricted to travellers of a particular age group or status (e.g. mature singles), so much the more interesting. When it comes to New Zealand, it is hard to imagine that any company could arrange a better such tour than Moatrek.

Comprehensive, well-paced and planned itinerary , with superb accommodations. Exceeded our expectations for a first visit to New Zealand. Our guide, Andrew, was extremely knowledgeable about the landscape, flora and fauna, and his observations about history, agriculture, and exports were consistently borne out by other presentations we received. His love of New Zealand, and knowledge about every aspect of what we were observing and experiencing made this trip richly rewarding. He knew when to provide information and observations and when to let the group “rest”. He was attentive, warm and a joy to be with.

I was having such a good time I actually extended from 16 to 21 days because I felt I would be missing out if I didn’t! I had a fabulous time and would thoroughly recommend MoaTrek to anyone who wants to go to New Zealand. Don’t go on one of the big coaches, you won’t get to see nearly so much as you’ll only get to go to the places the coach can access, small tour buses can get to even more interesting places, and you won’t get the same level of attention from the tour guide. I had a fabulous time. New Zealand was on my bucket list for a long time, and it didn’t disappoint, but I would never have got to see, participate in or learn so much if it hadn’t been for MoaTrek, so a huge thank you!

As soon as we spent fifteen minutes with Matt, our tour guide, we knew we were in good hands. New Zealand is a fabulous country and we were delighted to have spent the three weeks seeing as much as possible. Couldn't imagine doing it in less time. Accommodations were great and the various places we stopped for lunch or dinner were always excellent. We hiked, biked and kayaked and couldn't get enough of the outdoors. The scenery speaks for itself, but Matt added his vast knowledge of the history and culture and really made it all come alive. The others on the tour were fun to be with and Matt "handled" us well. Well worth the trip half way around the world.

Touring New Zealand had been the number 1 item on my bucket list for a few years. We are so glad that we selected MoaTrek, as our expectations were exceeded. Hope that we can find another small group company to meet our new global number one that can come close to matching the MoaTrek overall experience. I would absolutely recommend Moa Trek. Paul was an outstanding driver/ tour guide. Everyone with Moa Trek that I communicated with was also outstanding.

This was the furthest distance and longest time we've been away from home in the UK and we were a little bit apprehensive to be spending so much money on the tour. From day one all the way through to when we were dropped off at the airport and waved our goodbyes, the tour was fantastic in every way. Tanya helped ease our worries about the tour and got us booked in with no hassle and a lot of useful information and Andrew, our tour guide, is just a fantastic guy with a lot of knowledge of the country but above all, was very approachable and helpful throughout the journey. New Zealand is a beautiful country and that was made better by the organised activities included within the tour price shared with a small and intimate group; not so big that you feel like cattle being herded from tourist spot to tourist spot but big enough to enjoy a diverse social group. We chose to pay for some of the additional activities but were never put under pressure to buy into them; it was our choice and well worth it. That aside, we do believe the tour is brilliant with enough activities even if we hadn't bought the extra activities; we were just feeling more and more adventurous as the days rolled by. We're back home now and already planning a return trip to NZ thanks to Moa Trek opening our eyes to the wonder of the country. Thank you!
